There is energy all around use, in everything we eat, use and see… we are all even made of energy! This unique summer camp will focus on building knowledge, skills and a love for STEM, all the while dazzling the participants with amazing demonstrations and thought provoking projects.
They will build a working wind generator, a solar powered car and many more fascinating objects and art. Each day there will be new opportunities to put their knowledge to use and create real world things, making the sessions a lot of fun, rewarding and practice. Ever wonder how a Tesla works? Your child will know how after this week and can build a simple version to keep! They will also learn about sustainable energy, how we can harness the energy around us and the importance of treating all forms of energy safely and with respect.
During this camp, your child will learn how to use a number of specialty age appropriate tools. For example, our jigsaws can cut wood and plastic, but cannot cut skin and are safe for child use ages 5+. They will use it in our custom studio where sawdust and air-born particles are sucked into the table itself instead of moving into the air, further improving the environment. Safety is our primary core value and all students will wear eye and ear protection in addition to health requirements (masks, social distancing, etc.).
Your child will also keep all the creations they make and have the opportunity to customize them from accessories and equipment in our Maker Store. They will receive a complimentary $5 daily allowance (no real cash value) for use at the Maker Store, helping them reinforce the value of money and decision making. The store experience helps ensure that every participant makes something truly unique, whether it is a wood selection, a special paint or something fun.
After the week, your child will have a number of new skills, the knowledge to safely use them and the confidence to know they can succeed – and change the world for the better!
