5 Weekly Evening Classes – Mini-Maker (Ages 6-10) – Monday’s July 26 to Aug 23 – 5pm – 6:15pm
August 16, 2021 @ 10:00 am - 11:15 am
An event every week that begins at 10:00 am on Monday, repeating until August 23, 2021
Mini-Maker Programs change every month to suit seasonal trends and student preferences. Each set includes five classes, delivered one per week for five consecutive weeks, each lasting 75 minutes.
This session’s theme is “Let’s Create Together” where the children will each work on an individual project that all come together to form a theme as a group. They will choose the theme during the first day. Examples of themes include Great Gardens (building planters and garden decor, learning about the growing world), Greetings Earthlings (building rocket ships, learning about planets and life), Wheels Up (building solar powered race cars and a group track), Puzzling (building mazes and puzzles), Sparks (building working wind farms, learning about lightning and energy), etc. All the sessions will include a maker component, exciting demonstrations and creative design.
Mini-Makers is ideal for youth ages 6 to 10 and is perfect for inspiring young minds to dream big and make it real. Our makers will have supervised access to specialty tools and equipment (all age appropriate and safe) that they will use to make their imagination come to life. They will vision, plan and build new items each week to the set theme, all the while learning about the nature of what they are working on by building it themselves. Turning wood into useful objects, art or decor is just the beginning – they will often integrate lights, motors or other artistic elements to dazzle observers and make their creation totally unique. Their imagination is the only limit.
During these sessions, your child will learn how to use a number of specialty age appropriate tools. For example, our jigsaws can cut wood and plastic, but cannot cut skin and are safe for child use ages 5+. They will use it in our custom studio where sawdust and air-born particles are sucked into the table itself instead of moving into the air, further improving the environment. Safety is our primary core value and all students will wear eye and ear protection in addition to health requirements (masks, social distancing, etc.).
Your child will also keep all the inventions and creations they make and have the opportunity to customize them from accessories and equipment in our Maker Store. The store experience helps ensure that every participant makes something truly unique, whether it is a motor upgrade, a special paint or something fun.
After the five classes, your child will have a number of new skills, the knowledge to safely use them and the confidence to know they can succeed.
